Palava has become the preferred destination for sports tournaments from district level, state level to national level. Recently we hosted the All India Pickleball Official National Ranking Tournament, led by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), in association with the Amateur Pickleball Federation of India (APFI) and Pickleball Federation of India (PFI), at the Olympic Sports Complex.
Pickleball is a popular sport in more than 50 countries around the world. The newly established sport is gaining popularity among people, and many workshops, tournaments have been conducted to promote and educate about it.
The second edition of this two-day tournament took place on 4th and 5th Dec’21 at the Olympic Sports Complex and saw over 300 players from over 20 states coming to Palava and experiencing the state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The Olympic Sports Complex converted its professional tennis courts into 17 Pickleball courts for tournaments in the Under 14, Under 19, Open, Over 40, and 50 age groups.
The winners of this national tournament received medals and prize money totaling INR 4 lakhs. And the ‘Most Valuable Player’ has received the full sponsored travel to Thailand to represent India at the Asia Open Tournament in Phuket in April 2022.
